Amalie, Autumn and Winning.

Amalie, my Bronze Age girl with pony adventure story, is out in the big wide world. The kindle version is available from your nearest Amazon online bookstore. The paperback is in the work in progress stage. The cover created on my screen doesn’t look, unfortunately, the same as the real-life, physical cover, it needs more twiddling.

Her adventures, after her family’s deaths, take her overland to the sea, facing dangers, loneliness and, with a courageous determination that belies her age, success.

Kindle price €2.99 or £2.99 from Amazon

Autumn

This is my favourite time of year. A time before nature, in the northern hemisphere, rests, and after the frantic madness of spring, and the heat and busyness of summer.

Autumn always gives a magnificent show of beauty before she leaves, a slow firework display of mellow colours. A splash of brightness here and there before the trees and plants divest themselves of their summer attire. A reminder to us humans that there is a time for everything, excitement, fresh ideas, leading into the busyness of working, completion or harvesting and then rest and recuperation.

Winning

An amazing start to my favourite time of year, winning a competition. During this tough time of COVID-19 there have been, on the internet, so many innovative ways of connecting with other people. One of these ways is the webinar, a virtual meeting-place where a participant can join in, comment, ask questions and be part of a large group working or learning. The only factor that determines webinars is time. I’ve taken part at 11pm in my pyjamas or three in the afternoon, whilst sipping tea and chomping on a biscuit in my gardening clothes, it’s great. Living in Galicia has denied me the opportunities of attending local writing groups. There are only a few English here, or attending the literary festivals to admire the gods and goddesses of literature. But this is a small price to pay for living in this beautiful part of Spain.

A recent webinar with Mark Dawson on the subject of increasing the numbers of email subscribers hooked me into the various ways of getting my ‘brand’ out to more readers. During the webinar he held a competition, to name an eastern European car from the 80s, I typed in the answer and I won! Not an 80s beat up eastern European car, but a ‘Write a Bestseller course’. There’ll be no stopping me now. Once I’ve worked out how to log in.
