Happy Epiphany or Day of the Three Kings.

I know it’s a bit late. This year El dia de los Reyes, because of Covid restrictions, was a little different. The Kings came to the villages, and the locals waved from their windows. There were no processions, no arrival by steam train, which is the tradition here in Monforte, my hometown, and no sweets thrown from the floats as they passed by. The people stayed indoors, ate rosca de Reyes and hunted for the china figure baked in the cake. This small figure is supposed to bring luck and prosperity, let’s hope that is what 2021 will bring to us all.

The day of the Three Kings, the day Spanish children receive gifts.

Research

I love researching backgrounds, places and ideas for my work in progress, whatever the genre. I am currently working on a joint project with the author, Abagail Thorne, a contemporary sweet romance. Our protagonist is currently in Munich, working on an internship, and she is having a great time. The research for my part of the story involves the Oktoberfest celebrations and German Christmas markets, an exciting time in this part of the world. I have found out so much information that I’ve put this city and these two festivals on my bucket list to visit in the future when Covid isn’t shutting down the world.

Oktoberfest Munich

My protagonist picks up some glorious pieces from the Christmas market in Munich for her home and as presents. I understand she isn’t real and just a figment of my overactive imagination, but I can see, taste, feel and see the same things she does. I hope this comes across in my writing?

Monthly Newsletter

This month I have attached a story about a dog, Bruno, who moved into our lives for a few weeks four years ago, before leaving and moving into the breaker’s yard down the road, where he still lives. Our loss, we didn’t have strong enough fencing to keep him in and their gain, a beautiful, soft Mastine who will eat them out of house and home, and with a bark so deep you can only hear the vibrations with the human ear.

If you haven’t already, join my mailing list, there is a button at the top of the page, and receive a free monthly story including Bruno’s, news of my latest publications, and be the first to know about discounts and freebies.
