Touching Hearts 3

Argus’s New Home

Wherever he goes, Argus will bring joy and pleasure to his new owners. He will be a valuable part of any yard and be the gentle and knowledgeable schoolmaster he was.”

Over the months Argus has been part of Emily’s life and a member of Javier’s yard, he has touched the hearts of everyone. With help, Argus has expanded his horizons metaphorically and actually, going from a blind, sad, creature due to be euthanesed to a vibrant, happy, intelligent, experienced schoolmaster who deserves a forever home where he will lead a full life, and teach many riders, newbies to professionals, to understand the true meaning of our connection with horses.

He’s recovered from his castration and his feet are in a healthy condition and his weight is returning and Emily feels he is ready for the next stage of his life – a forever home where he can take an active part in people’s lives.

On a personal level, Argus is teaching Emily to use all her senses, plus patience, when working with him, and his disability enhances her awareness of what she genuinely wants from a horse. Although he is naturally quiet and calm to work with, he is swiftly learning new ways to overcome his sight loss.

Yay, a sanctuary in southern Spain has agreed to take him. We are all beyond excited. The sanctuary is beside a beach and Argus, along with a name change for his new life, will have his own fenced paddock, a paddock mate, and the best of care.

PS. Three months later. We’ve had several messages and photos showing Argus living his best life. His favourite times are galloping along the long sandy beaches in southern Spain.

Thank you Emily, for believing in this beautiful horse. Javier, for having faith in Emily, Pedro, for putting this wonderful gentleman through his paces, Daniela, for keeping his feet trim and the laminitis at bay. Lastly, the staff and volunteers for enjoying Argus and having faith in this blind horse.
